Man surrenders for shooting dad-in-law in the face

A 28-year-old man is back on the streets on bail after confessing to blasting his 77-year-old father-in-law in the face and shoulder at close range simply because “he was angry”.
Thanyawat Mudshimwong walked into Thalang Police Station on July 16, carrying his .40 Baretta and willing to confess that he had opened fire at Juong Chioyboonchoo, as Juong opened the front door to his own home in Moo Baan Neramit 5, just off Route 4027, in Pa Khlok just after midnight the night before.
Thanyawat was accompanied by his lawyer, said Lt Krissana Janit of the Thalang Police.
“He didn’t say much, just that he did it because he was angry,” Lt Krissana said.
Thanyawat, who lives with his wife Pathikorn Chioyboonchoo in Chalong, was charged with attempted murder and carrying a firearm in a public place without permission.
“He posted bail. We are now waiting for the court,” Lt Krissana said.
Police responding to reports of the shooting found six bullet casings at the scene. Inside the house, they found two bullet holes in a glass door and a window, and nearby were two bullet tips. (See story here.)
The shooting was reportedly over financial affairs.
Thanyawat’s wife, Pathikorn, told police that Thanyawat has a hot temper. “We had an argument on the phone and he threatened to kill everyone in my family before hanging up. He then came to my parents’ house and shot my father.”
Juong remains at Vachira Hospital, where he is in a stable condition and recovering from injuries to his left cheek and left shoulder.
