Marine warning for Samui
A warning was issued by the ASTV Manager Online on June 11, 2556 at 15:36 AM from the Koh Samui branch of the Surat Thani Harbor office.
The warning went out to urge very careful navigation of ferries whilst fishing boat and small boats were told they should keep ashore due to strong winds and high waves of 2-3 meters.
Mr. Chai, Koh Samui branch office director, said the regional office of the Harbor received a forecast from the Department of Meteorology expecting rather strong southwest monsoons in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand with more heavy rains expected. Wave heights of about 2-3 meters were expected from 11-14 June 2556, all boats should proceed with caution.
The two ferry boat companies were told to be extra careful and ensure they had a sufficient number of life jackets for adults and children. Passenger boats were told they should monitor the situation continuously.
