Koh Samui News
A message from Trevor

On Friday 20t of September the Koh Samui community came together to raise money to help island resident Trevor Philips.
Trevor had lived in Koh Samui for many years on his UK pension when he discovered he had a blood clot on his lung. When doctors told him that he urgently needed to have the clot removed sadly he found that he had insufficient funds to pay for the operation.
When Trevor told his friend Mario, who owns the M&M’s bar in Bangrak of his situation, Mario organized a fund raising party and many people on the island donated money and items for a raffle and for an auction and over one hundred and twenty thousand baht was raised.
Trevor attended the party and was quite overwhelmed at the generosity of the community and could not believe how wiling people were to help. Several donations came in from total strangers and it really touched Trevor’s heart.
Trevor underwent the emergency operation at Thaksin Hospital in Surat Thani and what was thought to be a clot turned out to be a very large tumor. Although the operation to remove the tumor was a success sadly the outcome for Trevor will not be what he hoped. However, Trevor would like to express his heartfelt thanks to everybody that donated money and prizes for his fundraiser and to all of those that came along to support his cause. He has been touched by the generosity of everybody involved and hopes that the community will come together again in the future for anybody that finds themselves in the situation he did.
