Ministry of Social Development accelerating efforts to tackle domestic violence issues

The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security is accelerating efforts to tackle domestic violence, as the number of reported victims has increased.
Social Development and Human Security Minister Gen Adul Saengsingkaew chaired the opening of the training program to mobilize multidisciplinary mechanisms for the protection of women, children, and family members from domestic violence.
The aim is to create awareness about related laws and how they can be used to effectively protect people from domestic violence, while creating a multidisciplinary network comprised of provincial attorneys, police investigators, local administrations, family support groups, and ministry officials.
Gen Adul said the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, together with the Ministry of Public Health, Royal Thai Police and the Attorney General’s Office, has continued efforts to confront domestic violence, as the number of cases have risen slightly from the previous year. Most cases were reportedly associated with substance abuse.
