Missing Big Joke! New immigration chief flexes his muscles in arrest of Koreans

The vinyl boards are back out at the Thai Immigration Bureau.
Previous chief and former poster boy Lt General Surachate “Big Joke” Hakpan may be shuffling paper for the PM these days but his replacement is now flexing his muscles and arresting foreigners.

Latest on Lt-Gen Sompong Chingduang’s hit list were a South Korean couple who ripped off two people on construction projects at the Windmill Estate in Bang Plee Yai, Samut Prakarn.
Jung Imchol or “Jack” and his wife Kim Sooin enticed people with some fancy ads and pictures online promising to build, extend and handle interior design of properties.
They are reported to have ripped off two house owners at Windmill to the tune of 23 million baht.
Jack and Kim were arrested doing extension work. Jack didn’t have a passport to show and no work permit and his wife had no permission to work either.
They were handed over to Bang Kaew police where they were also charged with fraud.
Former chief and media savvy Big Joke was famous for his vinyl boards.
Lt-Gen Sompong replaced him a couple of months ago with Big Joke transferred to the prime minister’s office.
Thaivisa motes that the only thing “missing” from the vinyl board was a large picture of the “arresting officer” – Big Joke’s trademark.
