Mr Bate was holidaying in Thailand with family and friends for his brothers wedding.  While on Koh Samui they decided to take a boat trip around the island. The friends purchased tickets from Ruk Samui Travel and Tours located behind the Ark Bar Beach Resort on Chaweng Beach to join a boat trip run and operated by the Teeraphat Company that is owned and run by Mr Tanong.

Travelling between Ko Taen and Ko Madsum, Wes was seated on the gunnel at the front of the boat on the gunnel on May the 13th at around 4pm Mr Bate fell off the boat.  Witnesses believe the boat lurched causing him to fall.  His friends reportedly dived into the water to locate him but were unsuccessful.

His wife who is desperate for answers told the Samui Times she does not know for sure what caused him to fall, but has questions regarding the safety procedures and responsibilities of the operator Mr Tanong and Captain Mr Chaktham Jaijong.

Mr Bate was wearing a grey Super Dry T-shirt with red writing and denim shorts. He has dark brown curly hair and braces on his teeth and wearing an apple watch.

His wife, young children and mother want nothing more than to bring him home and are appealing to the public for any information as to his whereabouts. They also ask that this information is passed to local fishermen, port authorities, hospitals and anyone who walks along the beaches on the mainland or the islands.
