Mobile phone scammer arrested in Chonburi – nationwide losses of 5 million baht

A scammer running a fake mobile phone business online has been arrested in Bang Bung, Chonburi.
Jirayu Wirateewiphat, 25, alias Ekarin Monkhonchaiwut had set up various pages on Facebook such as “J Phone” “BB Phone and Service” and “Jiap Mobile”, reports Sanook.
Customers who ordered iPhones got nothing but excuses after transferring money.
The suspect also tricked customers into buying Truemoney advance payment options.
He admitted to two years of running the con but Technology Crime Suppression Division police said that under the name Ekarin he had been up to no good since 2009.
The TCSD once again warned the public to take care when purchasing online by trying to ensure that the credentials of the seller were genuine.
They said that losses in this case were expected to be 5 million baht and victims have been discovered throughout Thailand.
