“Monk Beer” arrested for selling drugs to teens in Bangkok

Police in Bangkok have announced the arrest of a 25 year old monk who was selling drugs to teens in the On Nut area of Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok.
He was caught red handed with Ya Ba and “ice” methamphetamines in his possession at a temple in the area. He admitted his crimes.
Phrakhanong police and drug suppression cops today raided the monk’s quarters of a temple in the On Nut area. The temple was not named in the Thai Rath story.
Arrested was Yuthana Naphophon, 25, who was known as Phra Beer. His official title was Phra Kitiphoptho.
In a monk’s satchel and robes he was found to be in possession of 150 Ya Ba pills and 7.12 grams of ice.
He told investigators that he would go in his monk’s robes to pick up the drugs from a man called “Montree” at rented accommodation in the Mor Chit area of Jatujak, Bangkok. Deals were handled over the phone, he said.
He would then sell the drugs to teens in the On Nut area for 100 – 180 baht per Ya Ba pill or ice for 1,200 – 1,500 baht a gram.
Phra Beer was taken for defrocking before being taken to Phrakhanong police station where he was charged with possession of drugs with intent to sell and detained.
