Motiveless attack at Chiang Mai ATM – teen woman slashed by serial loony

A 19 year old Chiang Mai university student was slashed in the arm by a mentally deranged man wielding a box cutter.
She was innocently waiting to press the ATM in front of the Ban Sankhong, Sankamphaeng, branch of 7/11 when the man came up behind her.
Following the attack on Wednesday the man fled. No attempt at theft was made.
Piyathida Pinbua suffered a seven centimeter gash that needed 8 stitches. She was rushed to hospital in her sister’s car.
Police traced the man with CCTV evidence to a nearby house. He is a 47 year old with mental problems – they took him to Suan Prung Psychiatric hospital in Chiang Mai.
The elder sister of the victim put the story on Facebook to act as a warning to others while their aunt said they would prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.
The man is well known for causing problems in the area, reported Manager.
