Murky goings on as woman dies after being set on fire in her home by “son of an influential figure”

A 59 year old woman who was attacked with a knife then set on fire in her home has finally died.
Srirat (no surname supplied due to the sensitive nature of the case) had wanted her daughter Sirikhwan, 29, to end a relationship with a man named only as “Sam”, reports Daily News.
It is alleged that Sam went to her house, stabbed her then poured gasoline on her and set fire to her. The attack happened on October 1st last year.
Sirirat had been in hospital ever since but died on Tuesday.
Now her son Sorachai, 37, has called for justice after no arrest has been made. He claimed that “Sam”, the son of an influential figure, is carrying on his life in the area of the attack as if nothing had happened.
He has been seen at entertainment venues living the high life.
In a latest development Sorachai said that he was contacted through an intermediary – a phu yai ban – to be asked to accept 20,000 for his mother’s funeral expenses.
He believes that this offer came from Sam’s influential father and is a way of paying money not to pursue the case.
He refused to accept it as it may have a bearing on how the case may proceed in the future.
Sorachai said that police told him previously they intended to seek charges of attempted murder. He now wants these upgraded to premeditated murder after his mother’s death.
Sorachai was speaking to Daily News online reporters.
