Naked Thai man in “Tarzan” overpass drama: He refused to take the meds

Traffic in the Laem Chabang area was paralyzed for an hour yesterday as a naked Thai man threatened to jump from an overpass.
Police shut off one lane of traffic as an officer was dispatched to try and talk Niran, 27, down from the bridge.
Instead of coming down he started swinging from a lamppost saying repeatedly “I want to die”, reported Daily News.
He was yelling out like Tarzan in the movies, reported the Thai media.
Then Niran decided to take off on foot and a long and tiring chase began before he was eventually wrestled to the ground.
Niran’s mother said that he had had a mental health episode 4 or 5 years ago but had refused to take medication prescribed by a specialist. He would only take anti-depressants.
Yesterday’s events followed an incident where he was locked up in the Laem Chabang police cells. After that he was taken to hospital but fled the medical staff and took all his clothes off.
Police took him back to the hospital to have him assessed.
