The mother who lives in Pai was visiting relatives in Chacherngsao for 6 months and had her bank book with her.

In common with many country people like Kunthon Limchayanan’s mum she did not have an ATM card, debit card or internet banking.

But when her account was checked 290,000 baht had been taken out on November 29th.

The branch in Panomsarakham said they had no record of a withdrawal.

But they promised to look into it.

Kunthon told Daily News Online that a friend of his had had a similar problem involving 200,000 baht at the same branch and the ID number of the staff member concerned was the same as the withdrawal on this latest occasion.

Both his friend and now Kunthorn have made police complaints though the bank have promised a resolution of the current case by tomorrow.

The bank was not named though the Facebook post said it was one with a “sky blue banner”.
