Pattani police officer arrested for alleged gold shop robbery

A police officer attached to Nong Chik police station in Pattani was arrested last night (Dec 15) at his office and charged for robbing a gold shop in Nakhon Si Thammarat’s Thung Yai district two days ago.
The officer, Pol Lt Meechai Chorsom, 37, deputy investigation inspector at Nong Chik police station, was held captive when he came to work at the police station last night.
Thung Yai police used CCTV footage to seek the court’s warrant to arrest Pol Lt Meechai, who was suspected of robbing the gold shop in Nakhon Si Thammarat’s Thung Yai district on Dec 13.
The robber made off with 20-baht weight of gold necklaces worth about 400,000 baht.
A source from the investigation team said police tracked down the owner of the motorcycle used in the robbery. The owner told the police that Pol Lt Meechai borrowed his motorcycle and returned it to him a few days ago.
After the arrest, police escorted Pol Lt Meechai to his house where clothes and cap allegedly used in the robbery were found.
Pol Lt Meechai denied all charges.
