Pattaya district chief blames tourist for starting fire in hotel sauna

A full scale emergency was sounded yesterday afternoon as eight fire engines rushed to the Fairtex Sports Club and Hotel in the middle of North Pattaya.
There was a fire in the sauna section of the hotel and smoke was billowing from the second floor. Manager said that firefighters had a difficult time bringing the blaze under control due to there being a lot of wood in the area of the fire.
t took thirty minutes until the blaze was under control.
Bang Lamung district chief Naris Niramaiwong told reporters that an initial assessment indicated that a tourist who had turned up the heat control was to blame for the fire.
Manager reported that it was lucky there were no injuries or loss of life at the hotel that is in Soi 6.
Hotel executive Prem Busarakhamwong was also on the scene and said that the cost of damage was impossible to assess until a more detailed examination was carried out.
An investigation is underway.
