The Chakri dynasty is the current ruling royal house of the Kingdom of Thailand, the head of the house being the monarch, and hence the head of state.
Thailand’s Most prominent royal Family
King Maha Vajiralongkorn– Officially known as King Rama X, was crowned in May 2019, almost three years after the death of the previous king, his father Bhumibol Adulyadej. He is the only son of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit. In 1972, at the age of 20, he was made crown prince by his father.
Queen Suthida – Southida Bajrasudhabimalakshana, Southida Tidjai, is Thailand’s Queen as King Vajiralongkorn’s fourth wife. She was a flight attendant before her marriage.
King Bhumipol – Bhumibol Adulyadej, conferred with the title King Bhumibol the Great in 1987, was the ninth monarch of Thailand from the Chakri dynasty, titled Rama IX.
Sirikit – is Thailand’s Queen mother. She was King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s queen consort and is King Vajiralongkorn ‘s mother. In Paris, her father was an ambassador to Thai. She met Bhumibol. They married in 1950, shortly before the coronation of Bhumibol.
Princess Sirindhorn – Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, formerly Princess Sirindhorn Debaratanasuda Kitivadhanadulsobhak, is the second daughter of King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Thai’s commonly refer to her as “Phra Thep”, meaning “princess angel”.
Princess Ubol Ratana – Princess Ubol Ratana is a member of the Thai royal family. She is the eldest child of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit. In 1972, she married American citizen Peter Ladd Jensen and settled in the United States, losing her royal title in the process.
