Phuket Airport positions as gateway to Andaman

Phuket International Airport celebrates 27th anniversary this year, pushing forward all developments to become the gateway to the Andaman, Airport Director says.
The Director of Phuket International Airport Monruedee Ketpan has said that the airport is now being renovated to increase annual passenger capacity from 6.5 million to 12.5.
She revealed that most of the renovation progress has been completed, while the new international terminal’s construction is 70 percent complete, which is ahead of schedule. The construction is expected to be completed in 14 February 2016.
The operator of Phuket Airport, Airports of Thailand (AOT), has established the Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) to prepare the related staff and agencies for a smooth and efficient operational transition to the new terminal.
The Phuket Airport Director added that airport staff have been working relentlessly during the past year to ready the airport as a gateway to the Andaman, in order to support the nation’s aviation businesses which plays an important role in the development of Phuket economy and the role in pushing forward national development.
