Phuket Marine Police retrieve unidentified corpse floating near Koh Kai Nork island

The nationality and cause of death of the victim found floating east of Phuket today cannot immediately be determined, police said.
At about 10am this morning, marine police were alerted by residents that there was a body floating in the area between Phuket’s Koh Rang Yai island and Phang Nga’s Koh Yao Yai island.
By about 3pm, a boat team comprising officers from the Marine Police, Phuket City Police and Kusoldham emergency rescue unit arrived to the scene, about one nautical mile south of Koh Kai Nork island, and retrieved the bloated body, which was floating face down.
The body, which had a large gash in his back and was dressed in dark shorts and a shirt, was transferred to Vachira Hospital for further examination.
Due to the condition of the body, officers were unable to speculate at this point and will wait for more forensic clues.
