Phuket police investigate body found in Bang Wad Dam

Lt Col Amponwat Sangraing from Thung Thong Police received a call from a local resident at 2pm today stating that a body had been spotted floating in Bang Wad Dam in Wichitsongkram Rd, Kathu. Police arrived and were led to where the body of the man was floating face up in the water.
“The victim has a lot of tattoos on his back and he was found with his neck twisted. No other injuries were found on the body and there was no identification card on him. However, officers did find a Honda Wave with a Nakorn Sri Thammarat plate parked nearby along with some clothing, a hammock and empty bottles of alcohol,” he said.
“Underneath the motorbike’s seat we found one blue motorbike taxi vest with Nanai Soi Sombat on the back and a Vachira medical insurance card of Chanon Chumpimai. We are not sure if these items belong to the victim,” he added.
“We think the victim had been dead for at least one day. Maybe he was hanging out in this area with his friends and got into a fight and they killed him and dumped the body in the water. Whatever reason, we are investigating this case and we have transferred the body to Patong Hospital for doctors to confirm cause of death.”
