Phuket police nab Krabi dealer, seize half a kilo of crystal meth, other goods ‘worth millions’

A major drug dealer on Southern Thailand’s ‘Most Wanted’ list is now in police custody after a sting operation in Phuket’s Wichit sub district yesterday (November 29) resulted in the seizure of more than 430 grams of Ya Ice (Crystal Meth), and other goods, “together worth millions”.
Mr Sunthon Somtat, 52, of Krabi’s Nong Talay sub district, was a fugitive wanted on a Krabi-issued warrant related to crystal meth possession charges.
When Phuket Wichit Police recently learned that Sunthon was attempting to push his trade in Phuket, they staged a sting operation, luring the suspect to an undisclosed location, where they busted him in possession of 30.17 grammes of crystal meth.
Their operation continued to Mr Sunthon’s residence in Wichit’s Moo 5 neighborhood, where police said they found an additional 405.6 grams of crystal metho.
Police later told the Phuket News that the total weight of booty seized in yesterday’s sting amounted to about half a kilogramme.
Mr Sunthon has been charged with possession of a category 1 drug with intent to sell.
