Police are still on the hunt for a man who kidnapped a young girl on Rawai Beach in the main city district of Phuket in February. The girl’s mother reported the kidnapping on February 9, saying that a 33 year old man named only as ‘Camp’ abducted her 13-year-old daughter while the girl was selling flowers on Rawai Beach in the Rawai sub-district.

Chalong Police collected evidence and released legal summons for Camp, but he did not present himself to police. The police then issued an arrest warrant for Camp for taking away a child not over 15 years old from their parents without a reasonable cause.

Another child was kidnapped in Thailand in March. A man allegedly abducted a 6 year old boy from a Bangkok convenience store, and forced him to beg for money on the streets. The suspect, identified as King Konglin, was arrested while bringing a child to beg for money in front of a shopping centre in Samut Prakan, just southeast of Bangkok. He confessed that he used snacks and money to lure children to go with him.

According to the report, King Konglin had been incarcerated for two years for child abduction. Reports say there were eight cases where King kidnapped children to be beggars in Bangkok and the neighbouring provinces Nakhon Pathom, and Samut Prakan.
