Phuket police send mystery murder victim’s body for examination

The badly decomposed body of a woman with her hands tied behind her back has been sent to Surat Thani Hospital for further examination in a bid to establish precise cause of death and, if possible, her identity. The body, found on Surin Beach yesterday morning (September 29), was initially taken to Thalang hospital but this morning Cherng Talay Police commander Col Paworn Pornpromma said that Thalang Hospital does not have the forensic and pathology skills.
All that doctors at the hospital could tell police was that the woman was of either Asian of Caucasian descent, and aged between 25 and 40.
“So we decided to send the body to Surat Thani Hospital for the pathologist there to examine it.” Police, who are treating the case one of murder, are looking at missing persons report for the surrounding area. They have also been questioning local fisherman about whether they saw anything on Sunday night (September 28) at sea, but have drawn a blank so far.
Investigators believe that the body probably drifted along the southerly currents from the west coast of Phang Nga.
Given the state of decomposition they are certain the woman was not murdered at Surin Beach
