PM leads government officials in physical exercising

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha, on Wednesday afternoon, led officials of the Government House to participate in the launch of physical exercising to get rid of the problem of inertia which is affecting many Thais and which is blamed for being the cause of non-communicable diseases.
At the cabinet meeting on Tuesday, the prime minister instructed his cabinet ministers to order their respective officials to join an exercise session every Wednesday starting on November 30 from 3-4.30 pm in their respective office compounds.
The maiden physical exercise class started at 3.30 pm at the lawn in front of Thai Khu Fah building in the Government House with the prime minister leading the exercise.
Deputy Prime Minister Admiral Narong Pipatthanasai said that the launch of physical exercise session for government officials stemmed from scientific findings presented at the 6th Congress of the International Society for Physical Activity and Health held in Bangkok during November 16-19 which shows that many people these days tend to spend more time focusing on their smart phones and computer monitors while spending less on physical exercising or not at all.
This, according to the study, has resulted in increasing cases of non-communicable diseases such as heart diseases, high blood pressure and cancer.
