Pol Lt-Gen Sanit told to look into energy drink heir’s car accident case

Acting metropolitan police commissioner Pol Lt-Gen Sanit Mahathavorn has been assigned by the national police chief to find out why the fatal road accident involving the heir of an energy drink tycoon was delayed.
The fatal accident took place on the Sukhumvit road on September 3, 2012 when a Ferrari driven by Mr Woravut Yuwitthaya, a heir of the Krating Daeng energy drink tycoon, rammed into a Thonglor traffic policeman, Wichien Klinprasert, killing him at the scene.
Woravut was charged with reckless driving causing death to the other people and speeding. However, the speeding charge was dropped because the statute of limitation of the charge has expired. And, so far, the case has not been proceeded to the public prosecution.
Pol Gen Chakthip Chaichinda insisted that police had treated all cases without any discrimination or favoritism.
As for Mr Woravut’s case, he maintained that the case was still proceeding. However, he said he had assigned Pol Lt-Gen Sanit to look at the case and to report to him afterward.
