Police say body parts found in Chao Phraya river belong to the same person

The three body parts separately found floating in the Chao Phraya river in the past few days belong to the same person who is likely to be an Asian, said Pol Maj-Gen Pornchai Suteerakune, Director of Institute of Forensic Medicine, on Wednesday.
Although DNA tests showed the body parts belong to the same person, fingerprints check showed that the victim has no criminal record, said the police commissioner, adding that the priority now is to try to identify the victim.
Pol Maj-Gen Pornchai said it was presumed the victim died three days ago and his body was cut up in pieces by his murderer using a saw. The body parts could be thrown down the river from a bridge spanning across the river or thrown from a boat at different locations as the three body parts were found about 25 kilometres apart.
An informed police source said that the victim was not a Thai but could be an Asian-European. He said it could not be confirmed whether the victim was tortured or not but the right wrist looked as if it was taped.
