Police working on Koh Tao murder case confirms there was no abuse of the suspects | Samui Times

In the National Human Rights Commission Thailand (NHRC) board meeting, Dr. Niran Pitakwatchara, one of the board members, stated that Pol.Maj.Gen. Suwat Jaengyodsuk, the Deputy Superintendent of Surat Thani Police Station, had confirmed there were not any acts of violence towards the suspects in the Koh Tao murder case after there was a complaint about abuse, and that there was an order from Pol.Gen. Somyos Pumpanmuang, the Commissioner-General, to inspect every step of the process to make sure violent acts would not be used in the investigation. After this, the NHRC will collect the information given by the police and the suspects’ family to report to the Royal Thai Police Office and their responsibility will be considered done. Whether the NHRC will decide to organize a subcommittee to check if there was any human rights violation, it is entirely up to the NHRC.
