Royal Thai Police commissioner Pol Gen Somyot Phumphanmuang stated on Wednesday that several leading politicians in the South have knowledge and assisted suspects in the Central Festival Samui car bomb attack last week.

The national police chief affirmed the latest development in the investigation of the car bomb attack at a press conference today.

He didn’t elaborate the identities of these politicians but said the police investigators would adhere to evidence and witness accounts to deal with these former politicians.

He did not rule out insurgency, or other motives which the police have earlier established, but concentrated on politics.

He also said a redshirt suspect “M Redshirt” is still being detained by the military for questioning after a message posted on his Facebook indicating imminent bomb attack in Samui.
