The body of a well-known Swiss expat was discovered by hotel colleagues at his rented home in Kamala.

Police were alerted today (June 14) that a westerner had been found dead inside a room in Kamala’s Moo 5.

Reporting to the scene, officers found the body of the westerner – a well-known Swiss national who worked for a renowned resort in Kamala – lying face down on the floor next to the bed.

Police did not note any signs of foul play but took note of several packs of medication inside the room, which the man had reportedly rented for the past two years on his own.

Police questioned colleagues of the man, who reported that they had discovered the man’s body after gaining entry into the room through the window, which they forced open.

“When the man did not show up to work for the past two days, his colleagues were concerned and decided to check on him at said home. The door was locked but the lights were still on inside the room, and they asked for permission from the house owner [name omitted] to gain access to the room,” the police report read.

Colleagues also informed police that the Swiss expat had suffered from epilepsy and had been treated at a popular international hospital in Phuket four months earlier, following a serious seizure episode.

The man’s body was taken to Patong Hospital, where an initial examination by doctors concurred that a seizure was likely a factor in the man’s death, though a thorough examination has yet to confirm the exact cause of death.
