There will be no refunds for those who pre-paid for the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine, despite delivery of the first batch being delayed by a month. According to a Bangkok Post report, the Private Hospital Association says people who pre-paid can postpone their appointment or transfer it to someone else. Dr Chalerm Hanpanich, PHA president, was responding to frustrated netizens, some of whom are calling for refunds.

“My customers of about 1 million people don’t press for refunds. We’ve made it clear that despite this setback the jabs can be transferred or postponed.”

The PHA had previously announced that the first delivery of 1.9 million doses would arrive this month. However, the authorised distributor, Zuellig Pharma, recently confirmed they will instead arrive in November, with a further 6.8 million doses expected in the first quarter of 2022.

In related news, the Bangkok Post reports that ZP Therapeutics, a division of Zuellig Pharma, has filed documents to register Moderna with the Thai Food and Drug Administration in order to speed up delivery. Spokesperson Sunaiyana Kitkasetpaisan says delivery is a top priority. She says that following delivery of the first batch next month, 100,000 – 300,000 doses are expected to arrive every week after that.
