PTTEP moves rig to south Samui after fishermen’s protest

Thai oil explorer PTTEP has agreed to remove an offshore rig after facing strong protests from local fishermen.
PTTEP started moving the rig 18km from Lang Suan district, to its Phra Arhit rig, 32km to the South of Koh Samui on Saturday.
The move was witnessed by both PTTEP executives and representatives of local organizations and fishermen groups in Lang Suan.
The oil exploration project in the area began in January this year after two years of preparation on the project by PTTEP. [14/04/14]
