In the early hours of this morning, Wednesday 19th November, raids took place at a fun fair in north Pattya and in the bars of south Pattay’s walking street. The raids were lead by, Khun Sakchai the Chief of Banglamuang District.

The first raids took place at the fun fair located on the Naklua Road, police officers swept a beer garden that did not hold a license to sell alcohol, six people who were drinking under age were arrested and action against the organizers of the fun fair is bring processed.
After the raid on the fair the officers made their way to walking street where they made a number of checks on bars and took random drug tests on bar employees. All of the venues visited were able to carry on trading as normal.

This move came after the police arrested 100 women suspected to be prostitutes on Tuesday morning, this raid was in response to a recent case of a Pakistani tourist who was drugged and robbed in the area. Females and ladyboys were among those who were arrested, each was given a fine of 200 baht before being released. During their detainment the police made it clear that should any of them be rearrested the punishment would be more severe and should any of them commit a crime, especially against tourists would be dealt with to the full extent of the law.
