Rangers find man’s body in Nakhon Ratchasima national park

Yesterday, park rangers found a man dead in Thap Lan National Park in Nakhon Ratchasima in Northeast Thailand, known as the Isaan. The ranger team was on patrol when they stopped to rest at a waterhole. They then found the man lying on the ground, looking as though he was sleeping. The team called the national park chief, who reported the death to police. It took six hours for police and a rescue team to bring the body out of the forest. The rescue team drove 10 kilometres into the forest and walked another two until they reached it.
Police believe the man got lost, and then starved. The man had with his clothes, a cooking pot, and a fishing rod. He was wearing a purple T-shirt and black shorts. Police found no signs of a struggle. The man hasn’t been identified yet, but he was about 155 centimetres tall and looks to be around 40 to 50 years old. Thai news outlet Matichon Online reported a police chief saying he had seen someone about a month ago who matched the description. The officer says the man seemed to have mental problems, often begged for food, and walked alone in the forest.
Two other mysterious deaths in remote areas happened last week in Thailand. In one death, a man’s body was found washed up on a beach in Phuket. Police believe the man sniffed glue before catching shrimp and drowned in the ocean. In another death, the drowned body of a 21 year old woman was found in a pond in Phuket. The woman appeared to be mixed race, of Thai and foreign heritage.
