Reporting deaths, hospitalizations and arrests of overseas residents before they hit social media sites

Advances in social media have resulted in an increasing number of ‘notifiable occurrences’ including deaths, hospitalizations & arrests entering the public domain long before they have reached the proper channels, leading to confusion, speculation or distress, particularly at weekends or during prolonged closures.
If anyone becomes aware of an occurrence involving a foreigner where consular support is deemed likely they are respectfully asked to please take the time to contact the respective Embassy and relay whatever details are available to enable their support mechanisms to get started.
For Brits the number is 02 305 8333 (24hrs/both languages).

The continued support of the resident community in matters such as this is greatly appreciated by those that need it
