Russian wanted on Interpol notice arrested in Chonburi

Naew Na reported that a Russian building contractor had been arrested in Chonburi.

The Russian man had been hiding out in Thailand after allegedly swindling the Russian prosecutor’s office over the contract for a building in the city of Sergach.
His arrest came after a helpful member of the public in Thailand contacted immigration to report him which led to contact with the Russian embassy over the man’s status.
An Interpol notice was out for his arrest.
It was discovered that he had been in and out of Thailand since December 2011 with the latest arrival being at Ban Pakard, Chanthaburi, in September of last year.
He had been given a one month permission of entry into Thailand but had overstayed by 347 days when Chonburi immigration came calling.
He has allegedly swindled the Russian prosecutor’s office out of 20 million baht in the building deal.
On this occasion no mention was made of Immigration’s biometrics system, notes Thaivisa.
