Samui immigration asking for criminal record background checks on visa extension applications

Reports are coming in that new forms are being handed out at the immigration office in Samui to those who visit the office to renew/extend their visas and marriage extensions. The forms are asking for details of any previous criminal convictions in the applicant’s home country and for details of any ongoing criminal proceedings. The forms also ask for permission to conduct criminal background checks and state that those giving incorrect information will be prosecuted and may face jail time as well as having their visas revoked.
