Samui: Russian on huge overstay arrested while having his lunch!

Naew Na reported that a “Mr Alexey” was arrested in the Mae Nam area of Koh Samui yesterday.

A picture showed him having his lunch and a soda when Pol Capt Arun Moolikim of Division 6 Surat Thani immigration police dropped by to call time on his stay in Thailand.
He had been overstaying in the kingdom for nearly eight years – a whopping 2,861 days.
He was handed over to the local police
The media asked the public to keep calling in tips on the 1178 snitch-line.
This was all done as part of Thailand’s moves to rid the country of undesirables under the auspices of immigration chief Lt-Gen Sompong “Big Oud” Chingduang, said Naew Na.
The expected expulsion comes as Thailand welcomes thousands of Russian tourists Koh Samui and nearby islands for the high season.
