Samui’s Run To Give event – postponed!

Please note this event is postponed. We will give the updated event date as soon as the information is available.
Run to Give 2016 – The Mad Hatter is the 3rd charity run hosted by 4 well-known luxury hotels here in Koh Samui – namely W Koh Samui, Vana Belle, A Luxury Collection Resort, Koh Samui, Sheraton Samui Resort and Le Meridien Koh Samui.
With everybody’s kind help last year the event raised more than THB 150,000 for the Samui Special Needs School. This year’s Run To Give will take place on Sunday 16 October 2016, from 06:00am onwards
The revenue after expenses from this year’s event will be donated to Tesaban 1 Wat Lamai School to support with the costs of constructing a new building. This new building will allow them to accommodate more students and enhance the school’s facilities and learning environment.
The starting point for this year’s race is The Wharf Samui. Although it was built only a few years ago, The Wharf is already an iconic landmark in Koh Samui and a great local hub within the popular Fisherman’s Village.
Participants will turn right out of The Wharf and run through Fisherman’s Village, past the pier and the Waterfront Hotel, and then turn left at the main road towards the direction of Bangrak. A running lane will be marked out on the left-hand side of the road.
There are 3 race categories – Fun Run (2 km), a 5 km run, and the Mini Marathon (10 km).
For the Fun Run – participants will walk or run as far as Bakabung Café and then back to the finish-line at The Wharf.
For the 5km run – the turning point will be at Baan Dara (a short distance after Lae Lae restaurant) and then back to The Wharf. The turning point at Baan Dara will be signposted.
Runners participating in the 10km section will run all the way though Bangrak until they reach the entrance to Big Buddha temple. They will then turn around and run back to The Wharf.
The application fee is only THB 350 and includes a Run To Give goody-bag containing a running shirt, meal voucher and a lucky draw voucher with the chance to win a prize.
Parents can also participate with their children. There is a THB 250 application fee which includes a running shirt, give-away bag and meal voucher
Apart from running and keeping fit, we also have “The Mad Hatter” competition where everyone has a chance to express their creativity and win a prize for wearing the best hat!
Running application forms are selling very fast this week but we need more runners! For those, who don’t have the application form yet, you may contact the HR Department of each hotel or go to The Wharf Samui on Saturday 15 October 2016.
