On Wednesday October 16th the Satsuman Japanese Restaurant enjoyed a soft opening party.

The Satsuman Japanese Restaurant is located in the east end of the romantic fisherman’s village. This stylish and sophisticated corner of the island is becoming increasingly popular and renowned for its chic white hotels and restaurants. The Satsuman fits in perfectly here with its SAM_3815eclectic mix of contemporary and Izakaya styles. The restaurant with its high vaulted ceiling and polished teak wooden floors has a wonderful dining atmosphere not only in the Horigotatsu seating area for up to twenty guests but on the other spacious dining tables, in the private dining area and on the outdoor terrace around the pool.

The Satsuman oozes style and every part of the restaurant has been well thought out and designed. Even the cushion covers have been hand made in Japan from old Kimono’s. As you enter you will be warmly greeted with Irasshaimase, the Japanese word for welcome. While you peruse the extensive menu you can enjoy draught imported Asahi beer, that is served in imported Asahi mugs is certainly cool and refreshing.
The menSAM_3823u at Satsuman is vast and for those of you who are not too familiar with Japanese cuisine you will be pleased to know the menu is illustrated. It is very reasonably priced and if your dining companion does not fancy a taste of Japan there is also an extensive Thai menu and the last page is packed full of information about Japan.

The outdoor pool area and tropical garden is an excellent place to sit back and enjoy a pre or post dinner drink or cocktail, or perhaps a glass of wine from the restaurants walk in wine cellar.

The atmosphere in this chic restaurant is warm and inviting. There are fourSAM_3824 chefs working their magic in a open kitchen, the staff are friendly, warm and attentive and very highly trained and there is little doubt that this new addition to Bophut will enjoy all of the success it deserves.

The restaurant is open from 4pm until 11pm and is currently closed on Friday’s and Sundays. Happy Hour is from 4pm until 6pm and last orders for food are at 10pm. During busy periods booking is recommended, you can 077-425029 to make a reservation. The pool can be used between 4pm and 5-30.

Many residents of the island arrived to support Patrick and Andy in their new venture and enjoyed a fantastic evening of fabulous food and warm hospitality that ended with a big Arigato gozaimashita!
