Police and medics in Kanchanaburi rushed the scene of the accident on the Ban Kao to Kanchanaburi Road. They found the school bus with the driver’s side smashed in off the road on the left.

A dozen students had head, leg and arm injuries and were taken to two area hospitals. Parents and relatives who heard of the accident flocked to the hospitals on Monday evening, reports Manager Online.

The driver of the school bus – a woman aged about 50 called Ladda Leuangpramuan – was taken to hospital with severe injuries. Despite doctor’s efforts she died later from her injuries.

All the children were reportedly out of danger.

The driver of the 18 wheeler – Thammarat Sopha, 34 – is helping police with their enquiries.

Kanchanaburi police said that the children were on their way home to Ban Kao from several schools in the area.
