Seven diving instructors arrested for working illegally off Phuket

Seven Phuket based diving instructors, six Chinese and one Swede, were arrested for working illegally at Maya Bay, Koh Phi Phi Lay on New Year’s Eve, (Dec 31) because it did not stipulate in their work permits that their work would take them away from the island.
The seven are currently being held at Krabi Police Station awaiting for their cases to go to court.
Pol Maj Jaran Napephet, an investigator from Krabi police said, “Krabi Marine police found the diving instructors working at Maya Bay at 1:45pm on December 31.
“All of them have admitted to the charge of ‘working outside the area specified in the work permit’ as they were working at Maya Bay, Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park,” he said.
