On Tuesday Customs officers at Phuket international Airport seized seven million baths worth of Ice from a drug mule who intended to transport the drugs from China into Phuket.
According to Customs Director Montira Cherdchoo, Pornphat Wattanachaisen, 37, was on the department’s wish list after she left Bangkok for China. She said “we learned that Ms Pornphat had left Hong Kong on Tuesday via Air Asia flight 2965, when she arrived at Phuket at around 11.30 customs officers searched her luggage. We found two kilograms of what appeared to be ice hidden in her bag. After testing the substance we verified that our suspicions were correct and charged her for possession and trafficking a category 1 drug with intent to sell. Ms. Pornphat has now been handed over to the Narcotics Suppression Bureau for further investigation. Since late last year, five suspects have been arrested for attempting to smuggle drugs through Phuket Airport.
