Silom land price most expensive in Thailand – a million baht per square wah

The Treasury Department has announced its estimated prices on land throughout the kingdom.
The most expensive place is the Silom area of Bangkok where the price for a square wah of land – four square meters – is one million baht.
The cheapest land in the Bangkok metro area is in the seaside area of Klong Long, Bang Khun Thian where a square wah goes for just 500 baht.
Outside the capital the most expensive place is Hat Yai, in Songkhla where the value is 400,000 baht.
While in Khok Charoen, Lopburi Thais can pick up a square wah for just 20 baht.
Treasury Director Pachorn Ananta-silpa said that the prices reflect estimates that are as near as possible to actual market values.
Some 32 million plots were surveyed for the annual figures.
The department also announced plans in seven or eight provinces to help poor people buy property. The scheme is called the “Homes for Thais” project and will provide cheap loans for people through the Government Savings and Government Housing banks.
