Soapy massage investigation in Bangkok – police use environment laws to proceed with investigation

Police investigating the affairs of Victoria Secret Massage parlor and others in the same group are using environmental laws to go after the establishments as investigations continue into the possibility of involvement in human trafficking.
Ten massage parlors have been closed since January 15th.
But now five of the establishments including Victoria Secret, Copacabana, Long Beach and Embassy will be searched before Saturday after warrants were issued citing infringement of environmental laws, building regulations and public health.
Deputy police commissioner Siwara Rangsiphrammanakul said at a meeting yesterday that the five sites would be checked out by the weekend.
The name on the registration documents of all five is the same – Sasithorn Wirathepsuporn, the wife of a husband and wife team who run the parlors.
Meanwhile, police continue to investigate to try to find evidence that would constitute a charge of human trafficking against the couple.
