Yesterday Prime Minister General Prayut-o-cha said that during the 2015 Songkran festival more than 470,000 foreign tourists visited Thailand generating more than Bt7.5 billion in revenue for the country. He went on to praise everybody for working together and acting as good hosts welcoming visitors from around the world and went on to say that the number of tourist arrivals had increased by 39% from last year, according to deputy government spokesman Maj General Sansern Kaewkamnerd. The spokesperson went on to say that the Prime Minister said that “kind and friendly hospitality, as well as a beautiful culture, are the main charms that attract visitors.”

The Bt7.5 billion earned during the festive period will benefit different areas throughout the country, not just the tourism sector, he said.
