South African woman arrested in drugs bust at Suvarnabhumi Airport

A South African woman has been arrested at Suvarnabhumi Airport for allegedly smuggling 7 kilograms of cocaine worth an estimated twenty four million baht, into Thailand.
The woman has been identified at Monica Meere by the Customs Department director general.
She boarded the flight to Bangkok from Johannesburg and landed in Thailand after flying via Dohan on Thursday. The arrest was made after customs and immigration officials received a tip off. The drugs were found in chocolate boxes in her luggage.
The woman has denied all knowledge of the drugs and said that a friend gave her the chocolates to give to a friend in Thailand. Authorities said Meere looked suspicious as she passed through customs where she was asked if she could be searched. The drugs in her luggage appeared on an X-ray. She has been charged with brining illicit drugs into the country.
