Storms To Hit Nationwide Today

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has issued storm alerts for Bangkok and 62 provinces, that have been triggered by tropical cyclone Amphan in the Bay of Bengal.
The department said to prepare for heavy rain and winds as the cyclone was moving in a north-northeast pattern with landfall in northern India and Bangladesh expected this week.
The cyclone would strengthen the southwest monsoon across the Andaman Sea and in the Gulf of Thailand. Flash floods, runoff and stormy seas are possible, said Mr Monton.
The heavy rain and winds could be an issue until May 21 as the department is already working with the provinces likely to be affected.
Of the 62 provinces, 13 are in the North, 18 in the Northeast, 15 in the Central Plains, seven in the East and nine in the South. (see map below)
