Student arrested for six taxi holdups in one night

A university student was arrested by Wang Thonglang station police in Bangkok after holding up six taxis early Wednesday morning.
The first year student whose identity was withheld as he is still a teenager was apprehended while he was making the attempt to hold up the sixth taxi driver on Soi Lardprao 112 at 3.30 am today.
A fake gun which is a cigarette lighter was seized along with 2,380 baht in cash.
He confessed to have held up five taxis before being arrested.
He said he wanted the money for class registration and for transportation cost to return home in Chumphon province.
He said he turned to hold up taxis because he left his purse with a friend who had gone home, and had no money.
The fake cigarette lighter gun was borrowed from a friend.
