Support the Filipino Community in Koh Samui to help raise money for victims of typhoon Haiyan

The Filipino Community in Koh Samui is organising a Fund Drive to help the victims of the recent super typhoon Haiyan (local name Yolanda). We have coordinated with the office of the Mayor and they were very kind enough to give us their support and assistance.
Our plan is to be at the Bophut walking street today to conduct a small concert from 6 – 11 pm. We will be featuring some of our talented musicians and also some Thai entertainers. We have coordinated with the organisers of the walking street and we are now waiting for a final call if we will go ahead – due to weather issue. Should we decide to cancel today, we will make out upmost attempt to hold the concert on Sunday at the walking street in Lamai. Our aim is to be able to carry around some boxes to collect monetary donations.
Another channel to raise the fund is by means of solicitation letters. We have distributed some letters to chosen companies and organisations to ask for voluntary monetary help. So far, we have received great feedbacks.
The proceeds of all the collections from these projects will be endorsed through the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok.
