Surat governor calls for tougher action as Koh Pangan beach encroachment continues

Surat Thani governor Wongsasiri Phromchana made a flying visit to Than Sadet beach on Koh Pangan yesterday and still found many people encroaching on parkland.
A case against a man who had set up a 29 room resort and restaurant is currently with the court but the governor found that this operation was not fully shut down and others were breaking the law in the area, reported Thairath.
Transport operators were bringing visitors into an area that was supposedly off limits.
He called for urgent meetings to address the problem of encroachment in the area.
