In Bangkok a Chinese woman has undergone surgical procedure to remove a $300,000 a stolen diamond from her intestines.

It is thought that the woman stole the six carat diamond from a jewellery fair last Thursday and left a fake stone in its place. She was apprehended when after being caught on security camera at Suvarnabhumi Airport, her male travelling companion was also arrested. According to the police the woman initially denied any involvement in the crime but an X-ray reviled she had swallowed the stolen gem. When a dose of laxatives failed to produce the stone a colonoscope was used to extract it in a procedure that took around twelve minutes, the woman is now recovering in hospital.
