Suspicion falls on husband as pregnant wife falls off cliff in Ubon national park

Police are investigating after a pregnant Chinese woman fell 34 meters at the Pha Taem National Park in Ubon Ratchathani in Thailand’s north east.
The woman had arrived at the park with her husband early on Sunday morning to see the sunrise from Pha Taem cliff. She was found after falling down a smaller cliff. Trees had broken her fall meaning she lived. She had a broken leg, broken arm, facial injuries and multiple other injuries and was covered in blood. Her husband had gone in another direction. She was rushed to a local hospital and later transferred to hospital in Ubon. She was saved along with her three month fetus. Sanook reported that an interpreter at the hospital heard her say over the phone to her husband: How could you do that to me?

Female traders delivering food to the park visitor center reported seeing the man they later knew to be her husband in an agitated state hurrying away in a Honda City car. Khong Jiam police are investigating. Pol Col Charnchai Innara said that they were in the process of gathering evidence and it was impossible to say yet whether foul play was involved. Sanook reported that the husband was far away when the body was found and had said that after seeing the sunrise they had gone their separate ways.
